If you are talking about dishes or glasses, then you can wet the rim of the glass and rub your finger around the rim. If it makes a ringing sound, it is crystal. If there is no ringing sound it is just glass.

dip your finger in waer and rub it around the rim. if it has a high pitched whine its crystal……watch “war of the roses” Michael Douglas does it on there

Crystal is heavier and it makes a musical sound when lightly hit with a fingernail or spoon.

If you take your finger and run it around the rim of crystal it will ring, glass wont.
