How do you distinguish normal glass from leaded glass / lead crystal?

I'm buying glass dinnerware and I'd like to know, thanks.

    leaded crystal or glass should have a little sticker on them, stating that’s what they are. It usually has the percentage on there too

    Texas is right on with the sticker. But also leaded is heavier and there is that wonderful “ping” sound you only getting with leaded crystal!

    Besides that any reputable store selling leaded crystal should be able to tell you if what you are buying is or isn’t.

    The price will tell you if the sticker isn’t there. Hold a glass up and flick it with your finger nails. It should have a “ring tone” to it.

  4. Blood Makes Noise

    Flick it gently with your fingernail. There should be a deep ringing sound reverberating off it ~ a deeper sound than when you flick ordinary glass. There should be a sticker on it, denoting that it’s lead crystal.
