I’m looking for information about lead crystal decanters?

Is having lead in the glass really that harmful?

Do wine connoisseurs insist on lead crystal decanters when at upscale parties? Is it just for the sake of tradition?

How long does it take for the lead to contaminate the wine? Can I leave wine in there overnight without being afraid that I'm poisoning the wine?

How is lead crystal glass made? It's supposedly 'cut glass' as opposed to blown glass or other ways, but what exactly does that mean?
