What is the best way to clean lead crystal whose surface has turned milky?

We probably shouldn't, but we put our (inexpensive) lead crystal into the dishwasher. Over time a film forms on the surface that makes the glass look slightly milky. You can scratch the milky film, so I know it should be able to be removed. The problem is that I haven't yet found a good way to really clean it.

Any suggestions on how to remove the film relatively easily, since the crystal are cut pieces with lots of nooks and crannies?

    Q’tip/damp cloth and vinegar.

Products that clean away calcium, lime and rust should work. CLR is good. You could also try those tablets used for denture cleaning.
